Can the loop turn in empty cells? If the answer is no,then my solution is wrong.

The loop can only turn in the direction of an arrow, so no.

Tough one, I had to resort to a lot of trial and error to solve it. It took me a lot of time because I kept making the same faulty leap of logic at a certain point after starting from scratch.

I think this type (arroway)of puzzles are generally tough to solve(and even harder to create).the clues do not sometimes make for strong progress. In this example, the two single arrows ,one below the other,on the second and third row, make a good starting point.
Tough puzzle type indeed.
I could not solve the 3*s on this site.

A very nice puzzle. I liked that I was unable to establish the correct direction until the very end.
