In this thread we will post announcements about new and exciting things happening behind the scenes of this site. Feel free to comment!

First of all, three new members have become judge last week. The new judges are apollo1001, edderiofer and me. We do our best to verify as much puzzles which were waiting in the vestibule as possible. Some authors might have already noted that a lot of puzzles have been verified last week (especially by apollo1001 and edderiofer).

Second, tomorrow we will release a new genre. It's called Danger Zone, but I won't spoil the rules yet. Enjoy!

You might have noticed that today 2 puzzles were released. This will happen for (at least) the next couple of weeks, because of the large number of puzzles which have been verified lately. Happy puzzling!

The new genre of this month will be Yajilin. You can easily find the rules of this genre if you google it. It will be released in a few days.

Yajilin will be released this Wednesday. You can find the rules here. It's already possible to design puzzles for it in the studio, if you want your puzzle to be published soon after the release.

We will be releasing a new genre, Winding, in a few days. This we believe to be a PuzzlePicnic original with rather unintuitive rules. To make sure that submissions are of a reasonable quality and correct, we have chosen not to allow puzzle creation for this genre until it is released and people have first worked through some examples to familiarize themselves with the logic in this genre.

This month's genre is Turnstiles and will be released in a week. The rules can be found here.

Next month we'll release a more well-known genre, heyawake. The rules can be found here (including some special rules you might not be familiar with even if you know the genre already).

Puzzle creation has been enabled for both genres, so check out the studio if you want to create an early puzzle in either of these genres.

Heyawake will be released in a few days. This post is merely to serve as a reminder that you can create puzzles for this genre; not that you didn't already know.

(Just kidding; it's to make a habit out of posting to this thread.)

We regret to inform you all that there will be no genre released this month. We're terribly sorry about this, and are working on it. It appears we currently have "Too-Many-Cooks-Spoil-The-Broth Syndrome". In the meantime, though, please help construct puzzles to fuel this website's neverending demand for puzzles!

Due to a shortage of genre ideas, people voting for their favourite genre, submission of puzzles into new genres, and genre-creators on our site, we have decided to implement genres at a slower pace; that is to say, we will only be releasing a new genre once every three months from now on.

This month, though, our new genre will be...

Um...

Hmmm...

Well, we seem to have lost all the code for that genre... which is very strange considering pretty much everything is digital down here. Wonder how that happened. I'm sure we'll have all of this sorted out in three months, so come back then!

Due to a shortage of puzzles (we only have two puzzles left!), we have been forced to submit new puzzles on the site, from the only new genres that are ready for submission. That's right, this is an emergency genre release.

This month, our new genre is Slalom. You can read the rules here.

To make up for the previous month not having a new genre, we have decided to release a second genre this month as well. This genre also goes by the name of Slalom (at least, in some places), and you can read the rules here.

Puzzle creation for both genres has already been enabled. Please create as many puzzles as you can to stave off this shortage.

Please do not confuse the two. Thank you very much.

Here is an idea for a new genre -- Greater Than Sudoku. I've seen these puzzles in 4 by 4 and 6 by 6 sizes, as well as 9 by 9.

Please post your requests in the Offical Genre Request Thread. Though this is actually a Sudoku/Futoshiki variation, and it would be much easier (I think) to modify the pre-existing engine for either of those genres, or to teach you custom puzcode so that you can add the puzzle into the genre yourself. That way, we don't have to have many different genres for sudoku variations.
