Here's a new alphametic puzzle which will give you a chance to test your skills. The puzzle is as follows:

ONCE + CODED = DIGITS

Now you only need to discover the "coded digits!" Have fun solving! I'll post the answer this weekend.

Why don't you create it as a puzzle in the studio, then we can play it via the interface.

Here is the solution to this puzzle. Since the 2 addends are 4 and 5 digits long and the sum is a 6-digit number then D equals 1. Then we can conclude that C = 9 and I = 0. At this point we have ON9E + 9O1E1 = 10G0TS. Note that S = E + 1. Also, we N + 1 equaling 10, but since N cannot equal 9 it therefore equals 8. Note we also have 9 + E = T + 10 and therefore T = E - 1. We can now establish that T, E, and S are consecutive numbers, with T the smallest and S the largest. We also have O + O = G + 10. There is a 1 carried to the column with 2 O's and the G, so G is odd. Also, a 1 is carried from the "OOG" column as well, so G < O. Now the digits we haven't used yet are 2 through 7. There are 2 possibilities for the "OOG" column, either that O is 6 and G is 3, or that O is 7 and G is 5. If O = 6 and G = 3 then there is now way to satisfy the condition that T, E, and S must be consecutive. Therefore O = 7 and G = 5. Now we can conclude that T is 2, E is 3, and S is 4. 6 is the only digit not used here. The reconstructed problem is 7893 + 97131 = 105024. When solving alphametic problems it helps to establish relationships between variables and points in addition problems where 1's must be carried or cannot be carried. Sorry if this explanation seems elaborate -- I hope it has been helpful.

Here is a simple alphametic puzzle with a baseball theme. BALL - BAT = HIT.
To produce a unique solution you only need to know that T is an odd number. I'll post the answer in a few days.
