Number: Puzzle #890
Genre: Stream Islands

Appeared at: July 15, 2008

Are we sure this has a unique solution? I have a solution that looks really good after repeated time separated checks that keeps being rejected. How do I check this (pretty new to the site)

I think the solution is unique, but of course, I make mistakes sometimes...

You can see my solution by pressing the "reveal" button. Is this solution the same as yours? If it is, then we may still have a bug with checking solutions (we had some problems with that before). If it is not, you may have found an alternate solution. Can you check which is the case?

Mine was slightly different.

Hrm, can't attach files. Lets try this:

My solution:

The official solution

The difference is in the bottom right, I take the 2 vertical and bunch up the 8 more.

I'm not inlining the images in case someone doesn't want to see spoilers

Ah, I see. I think you missed one of the constraints on the solution: it is not allowed for four cells in a square (2x2) to be all water, at least one of them has to be land.

Ooh, I completely misunderstood that constraint. My apologies. The way I was reading it made it a redundant constraint with the"all connected" part.

No problem, I'm glad it's clarified now. Hmm... maybe the word "lake" is a bit misleading...
