Dear PuzzlePicnic community!

I know I haven't been around much lately, but I just want to say it's truly great to see that the site is still active, after ten years (!), with new puzzles still appearing almost daily. Thanks a lot to all authors and judges who are making this possible!

Warm regards,

Thanks. The same problem has been reported by others using IE; it seems to be a cookie issue. We are working on it. Meanwhile, using a different browser should also solve (or rather circumvent) the problem.
I'm doing research on automatic difficulty assessment of puzzle games. For this research, we need data about the difficulty of puzzles as perceived by real players, and we are currently performing a user study. One of my students has re-implemented three popular puzzle games. We need people to play the games, and for each level estimate its difficulty.

If you would like to help, please follow the link below.

Dear puzzle friends,

I am currently co-supervising a student who is doing research for his Master thesis on automated puzzle generation and automated difficulty estimation, in particular for levels of puzzle games (computer games). As part of the project, he reimplemented the puzzle game "Trainyard" for use in a user study. That's where we need you!

The user study consists of about 20 Trainyard puzzles. You will be required to solve them, and then rate their difficulty on a scale of 1 to 10 stars. To participate, you need an Android device. Go to http://scoumo.nl/Flight/App/Flight.apk on the device to install the app (you may need to enable apps from "unknown sources" in the settings).

Thanks for participating, and have fun!

Ah, of course. It's been too long since I did this stuff...
The rules have been rephrased a bit. Is it more clear now?
Thanks for the suggestions! I rephrased the rules a bit, I hope it is more clear now.

To answer some of your questions specifically:
- nothing happens when two balls collide (they are independent)
- when balls get stuck, they do not go into any hole, so this can never be the correct solution

I added markings under the right mouse button for all squares, either to mark non-walls or balls that have already been used / holes filled.

If you have any other suggestions, please let us know.

valvino, what do you mean exactly with a "check or path facility"? Do you want to be able to draw the trajectories of the balls?
