This was awfully underrated.I dont remember how many times i backtracked.
The puzzle is fun,if it is atleast 4*.

Maybe you missed a step somewhere then. I didn't have to do any guesswork or backtracking at all.

I do agree that it was pretty tough to finish, though. The top-middle/top-right area (the 7s and the 8) took me a whole lot of available space counting, again and again, every count only giving me 1 or 2 more moves. Maybe I also missed something there.

Very fun puzzle though.

In my opinion the rating is spot on. Compared to some other filomino puzzles on this site, this puzzle is completely elementary with no backtracking required at all. The solution path is quite narrow though and also requires a lot of local counting ("if that 8 went in here, then these two 7s would have to connect and then this one would not have enough space" etc.)

I liked this puzzle a lot. It took me quite some time, but every time I got stuck and then moved on, the move was actually elementary, just not that easy to find.

the last two fillos by the same author were much better.
I think counting can only be a global evaluation no matter which area i am stuck in,and i am reluctant to evaluate the entire grid when i think i can do without.I differentiate counting from other logical ways of making progress depending on how much of the grid is involved.
You can actually work through this one with or without counting.I chose to backtrack.
20-25 minutes does not place it in 3* i think
