Number: Puzzle #3586
Genre: Sudoku

Is this regular sudoku? The 12-cell inner region should be empty?
The puzzle remains a valid sudoku if the inner region is divided into two 6-cell regions.

Hi Nyancharov,

In response, the 12 cell region needs filling in with the digits 1-6 so that there is still 1-6 in each row and column.

Hope this helps!

The rules specifically state "Fill in n different digits [...] in every area of n cells that is bordered by a thicker line."

Therefore, there is no condition imposed on the twelve-cell region (even though it _does_ contain n different digits).

Agreed.

Compare to puzzle 516: http://puzzlepicnic.com/puzzle?516

The outside border of the 12-cell region is not bordered by a thicker line. This puzzle should follow the same convention (although really you can figure out what is intended anyway).
